The works of a cosmetologist are clearly different from that of a barber. As a cosmetologist you can do variety of works and these include:

Hair stylist : Working as hair stylist styling the hair of the clients who come to the salon. Styling includes cutting the hair in various styles, coloring the hair and providing expert guidance to the clients regarding taking care of their hair. As a cosmetologist the client will consult you regarding any problem of hair and ask your opinion about how to style his or her hair. You can also work as a wig stylist also with various other cosmetologists.

Skin care expert: As a cosmetologist you can also work as a skin care expert taking care of the skin problems of the clients and also advising them on how to take care of their skin so that the clients can have beautiful skins.

Make up artist: This is another important job responsibility of a cosmetologist. This entitles her to do the make up of the clients who come to the salon for looking good. You would also require arranging the make up kits of the salon in proper order.

Promotional work: An important part of the work of cosmetologist is to promote the retail products that are supplied to the salon by various partner brands. You should also help in the selling of these retail products to the customers thus creating a good market for the brands that are promoted through your salon.

Maintaining inventory: This is another job responsibility of a cosmetologist. When you start working as one, you need to ensure that the salon always have the requisite supply of make up kits and other articles of daily use. You need to provide a report to the supervisor regarding any discrepancy in the supply.
