Many people cannot continue their education due to family commitments or lack of money, which forces them to start working, at the cost of their education. Later on in their lives, they see less talented people bypass them, and become more successful, simply because of their better educational qualifications. It’s a sad, but nevertheless true fact that a person with less talent but better educational certificates, is usually chosen over the more talented person, who does not heavy weight degrees to back him up. Many people who are victims of such situations, would like to continue their education, but can’t because they cannot afford to pay the increasingly expensive tuition fees.
For such people, Tuition Assistance programs come as a great relief. Tuition assistance programs are offered by the employers, to their employees as a part of the compensation package. These programs aim to reimburse the tuition fees incurred by the employee, for furthering his/ her educational goals. Usually the employee, who takes up the educational program, has to pay up all the fees and associated charges to the college or university. It is only when he/she successfully completes the program that the company reimburses the expenses. These programs are encouraged by far-sighted employers and they benefit both the employers, as well as the employees. The employers get more effective employees, who would be able to produce better results. The employees on the other hand, would be able to enhance their educational qualifications, which would increase their professional value and make them eligible for higher responsibilities and better rewards.
Since the employers invest in the employee’s education, it’s fair enough that they ensure that the employees, who take such benefits, stays with the company and renders profitable services. Towards this end most employers ask the employees to enter into an agreement, according to which they would have to work for them for a specified period of time.
