Easy Online Studying

Before you can get started on any online school assignments, you need to find a place to study. A separate space for your online class will help you stay focused on your work, and keep your study materials organized. This area should be designated only for academic work and test taking. If it is possible, keep your work area clutter-free and comfortable. Ideally, you would want an entire room designated for you to study, so that you can stay on task and be at par with your timelines.

Prevent distractions. Distractions are plentiful, especially if you are a parent. A message board on the door or outside of your home office will help with communication (especially with older children). Signs like “Studying until 7:30,” or “Preparing for exam at 8,” will tell your spouse or kids what to expect, and prevents any unnecessary questions or interruptions like, “What are you doing?” or “Are you going to be done soon?”

Keep everything close at hand. Have enough storage space to keep extras around. Items like: a dictionary or thesaurus, pens, pencils, notepad paper, printer paper, highlighters, 3-hole punch, stapler, book flags or sticky notes, etc.

Coping with noise. The perfect room is one that is completely sound-proof, but that would require renovating! If noise is a problem, consider purchasing a white noise or sound machine for your home office. These machines produce sounds that drown out other distracting noises and can help keep you focused when you’re reading, posting to your discussion board, writing and studying.

School Without A Classroom

Earning a degree if you’re working (or simply busy) isn’t as hard as it used to be. A lot of people are becoming poorer nowadays. The current upheaval in the global financial system causes people to become more careful about spending their money.

With many people facing a clear and present danger of losing their jobs, the smartest move would be to stretch one’s money as much as possible. Because you’ll never know if tomorrow you will still have a job. They tend to purchase the cheaper brands of basic necessities such as food and clothing. With this kind of financial crisis, students are also becoming wary of the amount of money they will be spending when going to college. Nowadays, not only prices of basic needs and commodities are going higher, but the price of matriculation for college education keeps on increasing as well. That is why new means of acquiring education came into being. This new way is getting an online degree. Online degrees allow you to get the kind of education you need without ever stepping into a classroom.

All that you need is a computer with internet connection and you’re all set. It may require some technological know-how, current computer equipment, and a lot of self-discipline, but it is definitely easier and more effective than it used to be. The time, distance and financial constraints of higher education have all but disappeared with the arrival of online degrees.

If you’re already in the workforce but would like to earn a degree, then the opportunity is there.

Some Do’s and Don’t in Online studying.

There are thing one should know when it comes to online classes. First up for you to do is to take time to review all the help files available. You can never really be too careful and sure if you have to learn something and it is indeed better to study prepared because it gives to time to absorb initially and then analyze because you already have the basic knowledge about the topic at hand in your online class.

For the first don’t, do not read material just once. Multiple reading, line-by-line readings are among the keys to understanding mathematics. Do not be ashamed if you have to repeat certain lines over and over again just for you to get a grasp, a firm grasp even of what you have to understand. It is not a speed-reading contest; rather it is a learning experience and an educational attainment that is of personal in nature. Remember, you are doing this for yourself and no one else so study, read over and over again until you have gotten the right message.

Patience is the key and even if you are reading for learning or reading just for fun, people really do tend to dead particular lines over and over again. That is just normal so do not be bothered by this. Another do is to spend some time just navigating your way through the online class and making sure you can figure out what the buttons are for. Just because we are all expected to have already learned the basics of a computer system does not mean that all buttons work the same way. One has still to familiarize himself with all the key buttons and tabs and tool bars so that come study time, we do not get left behind.

Problems Leading To Procrastination

Unnecessary delaying of work due to some problems related to the mind and body is called procrastination. Students suffer from numerous mental and physical problems during their childhood and adolescent days. Obtaining poor marks is mainly caused due to lack of concentration and various other physical causes. Some of the factors responsible for procrastination are enlisted below:

Psychological Problems:

Even though the psychological reasons of procrastination vary largely, the factors like low self-worth, self-defeating mentality and anxiety are considered to be responsible for this. It is a well known fact that people who suffer from procrastination have a higher memory power than the rest. But the fact that they stick to their own dreamy world and while away their time never helps them much.

It is therefore considered as a psychological problem and can only be cured if the person concerned comes to understand his/ her fault. Only then he/ she will be able to get rid of procrastination habits.

Some people depend more on wishes and dreams than on reality. It is not only because of the inherent laziness that a person suffers from procrastination. He/ she suffer from more anxiety than the rest. They feel that doing the work will hamper their flow of thought and they flee from it. Another psychological problem is the fear of doing work and anticipation of a bad result.

Physiological Problems:

According to the popular research, reasoning (for procrastinating) is controlled by the prefrontal cortex of out brain. This part of our brain manages the vital mental functions like attention, impulse control, planning. It also acts as a filter and causes decrease of stimuli from one to another region of the brain. Therefore it results in amplified procrastination, loss of attention and inferior organization capability.

Any type of low activation or damage in this part of the brain may lessen the capacity of an individual to filter out the distracting stimuli. Therefore in medical term, procrastination is similar to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
