Even if you are not a member of the Student Senate of your organization, you may know the role and function of a Student Senate. Usually a Student senate is the governing body of your university. Their primary purpose is to formulate newer agendas and policies for the smooth functioning of the organization. They work mainly for the social, educational and psychological aspects when they formulate policies for the organization.

Basically a senate body comprise of a vice president, a speaker, voting and non voting members. These members are the administrating authority and the students. With this set up, the entire Student Senate works for the betterment of an organization

The day to day work of the body operates in a planned manner. They conduct meetings to discuss on different subject matters. There are different committees who are in charge of different aspects in the Student Senate. The role of the Student Senate can be better understood if you know about the advantages of the Student Senate.

Advantages of a Student Senate

1. Betterment of the organization

The Senate body works for the development of the organization. Their purpose is to frame policies or make agendas for the development of the organization. They keep framing policies with an aim to develop the organization as a whole.

    The organization frame better strategies for the betterment of the students. They operate aiming at psychological, social and educational development of the students.

    3. Organized planning:

      As every Student Senate is an organized body, they function in a planned manner. This way they do better planning. And if a planned agenda can be implemented in a planned manner, it should always be successful.

      4. Betterment of the society:

      The Student Senate of a particular organization aims at the overall development of Students, who are the future generations of the society. So this way if the Student Senate can produce quality students (the future generation) it is an advantage for the society at large.

      You may not know that a good amount of money is allotted to maintain a Student Senate, yet every university have a Student Senate. To make a better analysis of the importance of a Student Senate, you need to know about the functions they perform. 

      Basically, a Student Senate is a body which comprise of a group of members. There is a Vice President, a Speaker, some voting and non voting members in a Student Senate of a University. The main aim of the body is to prepare agendas and formulate policies for the betterment of the organization. The body always works for the mental, social and educational development of the students. 

      Functions of a Student Senate: 

      The focus of a Student Senate is to work for the growth and betterment of the organization. They design structures and framework to meet their purpose. 

      The Student Senate is always active in framing and structuring meetings and agenda everyday. As their aim is to frame policies for the development of the students, they keep researching on newer and better techniques. Theses techniques are implemented in the educational system of the organization. They also work on the development of the extra curricular activities of the organization. 

      The Student Senates are usually organized bodies. The elected members take important decisions. There are separate committees who look after the specific matters. Every work they perform is executed properly. 

      The Student Senates are organized bodies, so their overall functioning is also organized. They serve the society at large, by working for the overall development of the students (who will serve the society in the long run). 

      Certain Student Senates works on Career development of the students. Whenever anybody encounters problem regarding Career, they contact the Career development office. Usually career development includes enquiry regarding internship information, guidance on resume development, questions on interviewing resource and other job related information. 

      The organizations conduct regular meetings. Usually people sort out different resolutions after every meeting. Student Senates are also segregated into different committees, who work for different things. Sometimes ad hoc committees are formed to work on a specific purpose. 

      Education is the prime focus for all round development of the country. And the Student Senates are performing a noble role in this context. Thereby we cannot deny the requirement of the Student Senate for the betterment of the Educational system.
