Recent Statistics and number of jobs available:

After completing the course of a Pharmacy Technician, one can opt for numerous jobs in the relevant field. According to the recent review, about 285,000 people got the job of pharmacy technicians in the year 2006. This is a great joy for people who are interested in the same. There are numerous places in which one can get a job of a pharmacy technician.

Places where you may get employment:

Government Hospitals and Nursing Homes : Apart from the Government sector there are private organizations, hospitals as well as nursing homes that hire pharmacy technician in a large scale. Hospitals require pharmacy technicians and almost 18% of pharmacy technicians are available in the hospitals.

Retail stores and Grocery Stores : 71% of the jobs were in the retail pharmacies. It has been a common observation that drugstore chains and grocery stores also hire Pharmacy Technician in a large scale.

Pharmacy technicians would be required in a larger scale and the amount would increase to 32% in 2016. It is also expected that pharmacy technicians would be required in almost all sectors in the near future.

Drug Dispensing Machines and their effect on employment:

Installation of drug dispensing machines would decrease the demand of the pharmacy technicians. The machines would be doing the needful, which are previously been assigned to pharmacy technicians.

For patient care centers, this substitution cannot be made. Thus, the demand of the pharmacy technicians would still persist in the hospitals and Nursing homes which deal with patient’s health care.

Support from the Government Laws:

It has been estimated that more than 376,000 pharmacy technicians would be required in the near future. If the law remains the same as now, the installation of machine would not hamper the employment of pharmacy technicians in retail shops and grocery stores.
