Parties are great ways to enjoy your life when you are in college. But it is not so easy to immediately know when the next party is happening as soon as you are in college. For this, you need to keep in mind some tips. In this article you will find the tips that you can follow if you want to get into any college party.

1) Get involved in every activity of the college: Try to be a part of almost all the activities in the college. This will help you be in touch with the people who are regulars in college parties. You should be friendly to everyone because you never know who can help you get into a party. A fraternity or a sorority is a obvious choice for joining if they are present in your college. If not then go and join any club or any other organization. The more you mix, more are the chances of getting invitations for going to college parties.

2) Do not get in a college party in big groups: It is always better that you and your friends break up into small groups for getting in to college parties. If you are in a big group, chances are that you might not have the opportunity of getting in.

3) Carry in your own alcohol: It is a smart thing to do because of mainly two reasons. One is that there is a chance of anyone fixing you a drink laced with drugs. Another reason is no one can think that you are too cheap a person who does not want to buy his or her own drinks.

4) Wear the right kind of shoes: It is important to choose your footwear carefully before going to a college party. Parties might be held in dirty basements, then wear those footwear which would not get ruined after a beer party. Do not spoil your expensive shoes.

Follow these tips and you will be a regular in college parties.

Now before we move on to the process of applying for a federal loan, you will need to know the eligibility requirements for getting the loans. They are-

  • You should qualify for financial need (some loans do not require this condition to be met)
  • You must possess a General Education Development (GED) certificate, diploma from high school or at least a pass a test that has been approved by the U.S. Department of Education
  • You must be studying towards earning a degree or a certificate
  • The program for which you need the loan, should meet the eligibility requirements set by the U.S. Department of Education
  • You must be a citizen of the U.S.A or at least be an eligible non-citizen

Understanding The Grant Packages

August 24th, 2009 by Jason Stollham

With the costs of college continuing to rise, borrowing money for your education has become one of the best investments that you can make. This is the reason why education financial aid is so important these days. It comes in various forms like grants, scholarship money, work-study and loans. Applying for the financial aids can be a lengthy process and but the results are worthy enough.

Here are the steps that you require to follow:

  • You should receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the government, some three to six weeks after you submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You must check over this report carefully to make ensure that the information from your FAFSA is correct. This information will be sent to the schools to which you have applied.
  • Next, the SAR lists your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) indicating how much your family should be able to contribute to your educational expenses. This amount depends upon the family income. This number is critical to your financial aid package as it determines your financial need.
  • After the paperwork is over, the financial aid office of each college will put together a financial aid package. This package comprises of the federal and non-federal aid such as loans, grants, scholarship money, or a work-study program to help meet your needs.
  • The educational costs vary from school to school and this it’s difficult to estimate exactly how much financial aid you will receive. The different colleges participate in the various financial aid programs and have varying amounts of grant money to award. However, each school’s financial aid office does its best to make up the gap between the EFC and the cost of attending that school.
  • As soon as the process gets complete, you will receive the financial aid award letter from your schools of interest. Each letter will outline the types and amount of financial assistance that school is offering for that particular year.
  • After receiving the award letters, be sure to compare the aid packages offered by the different schools. This is so because even though one school may appear less expensive, it may not contain the best deal for you.

      Jason Stollham

College admission tests measures the ability of the students to work at college level with students coming from different schools. Some college has specific admission requirements in the field of math and science. Some colleges also have certain SAT or ACT score requirements. The college admission test is indeed a key measurement; hence, you must prepare systematically to perform well.

Where you are and where you apply during your academic year will determine which college admission tests you need. Planning for college admission tests is not stressful, and a little preparation will go a long way to help you achieve your goals.

Different Types of College Admission Tests

The most popular and common college admission tests are the ACT, the SAT and TOEFL

      • Colleges and universities use SAT exams to measure mathematical and verbal reasoning capabilities of students, and to analyze the candidate’s eagerness for college. This exam is divided into 3 major sections: Writing, Critical Reading and Math, and students take a maximum of 3 hours 35 minutes to complete this test necessary for college admission. The SAT exam includes different question types such as student-produced responses, multiple choice questions and essays.
      • The ACT is a standard college admission test which measures the skill and knowledge of the student through several multiple-choice questions. This college admission test covers the following subjects science reasoning, reading, mathematics, English and optional writing.
      • The TOEFL test is prepared for foreign-born speakers who plan to complete their study in graduate or undergraduate programs at universities or colleges in the United States. The TOEFL score, required for admission, varies from one school to another. TOEFL iBT, an internet based exam, tests four knowledge skills necessary for effective communication: writing, reading, listening and speaking.

Some colleges use the test scores to reduce the volume of applications for admission. However, some colleges may give very little importance on these tests. Basically, these college admission tests are taken to judge the overall ability of your writing, reading and math skills.
