Almost all colleges in the U.S depend on college FAFSA to decide how much financial assistance a student may receive. The FAFSA process may seem difficult and daunting for those students who do not know their expectations. You must complete FAFSA before making application for government loans. You can get and submit FAFSA through financial aid office of your school or through the Internet. Filling out college FAFSA using the Internet is simple, free and fast. Let us now discuss how you can do it.

Before Starting College FAFSA

Before filling out college FAFSA, you must get a personal identification number. The United States Department of Education can help you in this regard. This personal identification number will be used in signing your FAFSA electronically. This number will also be used to review your SAR (Student Aid Report), reapply for student loan yearly, print your SAR, and see information regarding any government grants or loans you have received.

You must also have some documents ready that you will need to refer to after completing your college FAFSA. The documents include: driver’s license, Social security card, W-2 form of the last year, extra record of cash earned, Federal Income Tax Return of the last year, and Federal Income Tax Return of your parents. You must also submit the untaxed income records of the last year and the present business information.

Completing College FAFSA

After you have obtained your personal identification number and other essential information, you may start filling out college FAFSA application.

  • On fafsa.ed.gov, you can click on the option “Filling out a FAFSA”. Use the personal identification number to sign before filling out the form.

  • Read the form thoroughly and fill it out according to the instructions.

  • Check your answers again and again. You must not leave any mistakes.

  • After completing the entire process, click on the option “Submit my FAFSA now”.

After you have completed filling out college FAFSA, you will get a follow out letter. You must check your Student Aid Report carefully, to ensure that all your answers are right.
