- The Marine Corps
Scholarship Award: This scholarship provides financial awards to
the children of current and former Marines, with specific emphasis given
to children with parents who were injured or killed in the line of duty.
The family income must not exceed $65,000. This is a very extensive
scholarship, with $2.2 million given to 977 scholarship recipients in
2006. The requirements of this scholarship are:- The child of the
following: an active duty or reserve U. S. Marine; a U.S. Marine who
has received an Honorable Discharge, Medical Discharge, or was killed
while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps; an active duty or reserve U.S.
Navy Corpsman who is serving, or has served, with the U.S. Marine Corps;
a U.S. Navy Corpsman who has served with the U.S. Marine Corps and has
received an Honorable Discharge, Medical Discharge, or was killed while
serving in the U.S. Navy - Or, the grandchild
of the following: a U.S. Marine who served in the 531 Gray Ghost Squadron,
with the 4th Marine Division or 6th Marine Division during World War
II and is/was a member of their association - High school graduate,
current undergraduate student at a US accredited college or technical/vocational
institution - Minimum cumulative

Scholars Foundation Scholarship Award: This merit-based scholarship
contributes scholarship awards between $10,000 and $20,000 annually
towards a college education. The requirements are as follows:- Phase I:
Qualification- Review of academic
accomplishments, community service, employment history, and leadership
experience. - Must be a senior
enrolled in high school and planning to attend a four-year US accredited
university or college

- Phase II: Semi-finalist
notification- Approximately 2000
finalists are selected and must submit additional application details,
including personal information, an essay, recommendation letters, and
a school academic report

- Phase III: Finalist
selection- 250 finalists are
brought to the Scholar’s Weekend by the Coca-Cola Foundation; this
weekend will determine the different level of funding awarded, either
$10,000 or $20,000.

Scholarship Fund Scholarship Award:
This $10,000 scholarship is awarded to women who are working to achieve
a bachelor’s degree. The financial award for an associate’s
degree is less. The requirements for consideration are:- Working towards
an undergraduate degree from an accredited two or four-year college
or university, or vocational/technical institution - Demonstrate financial
need - Obtained their high
school diploma or GED at least 10 years prior - Still need at least
two semesters to complete to achieve the degree - Only the first 1,000

9/11 Education Fund Scholarship Award:
In response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Sallie Mae created a
scholarship to help those children whose families were victimized by
the attacks. Each scholarship award is $2500 annually per year,
and it can be renewed each year until graduation. The requirements
are:- Are daughters or
sons of a victim killed or disabled because of the 9/11 terrorist attacks - Have relative financial
needs - Will be attending
as a full-time undergraduate student at approved, accredited public
